Overview
As part of my UX design portfolio I wanted to include another passion of mine: plein air sketching. Jekyll Island is located along the southern coast of Georgia and is a prime location for vacationers, outdoor enthusiasts and artists! I have visited the island multiple times and spent the day sketching the various sights it has to offer. Below is some of my best work from these excursions.
Pen and ink is my favorite medium to use! I love the design of the organic curves and details of the trees that cover the island.

Sometimes I add a touch of color to accentuate certain elements such as the ocean and add liveliness to the sketch.

Jekyll Island also has a fancy hotel...
And a historic district, which has beautiful tree cover!

Sometimes I like to work with quite a few colors to develop a piece that is closer to a painting. Copic markers are great for a wide range of colors, and a brush pen works well for the darks.

These sketches are diaries of my experiences and what I find interesting when exploring what the outdoors has to offer. They are a kind of photo documentation for me and a chance to practice my drawing skills!
